What is a patient participation group? Patient participation group

This is a group where health professionals, patients and the public work together to address issues that effect health and health services in their community.

What do they discuss?

The agenda depends upon the local needs, interests and energies of the participants. It is a good waying of hearing difficulties patient may have with the practise or the community. By doing this we can improve and provide the service that is needed if possible.

How regular are the meetings?

Every three to six months.

What if I want to join?

There is one group with patients from the King Edwards Medical Centre and Thames View Medical Centre. You can join by either contacting the Operations Manager or the receptionists in your surgery.

Is this surgery the only one doing this?

No, this is now a national agenda. Different practises have different types of meeting.

Our local CCG are also coordinating this across the borough. They can be contacted via the local PCT (PALS).
